Hiromi Yamada
Born in Gunma, Japan. Hiromi moved to Vancouver in September, 1987 with her husband, son(age 5) and daughter(age 3). A few years later, her second daughter was born in Vancouver. She worked as a book keeper at a Japanese newspaper company as well as teaching mathematics at the Vancouver Japanese School. Hiromi practices Kendo(Japanese martial arts) and has achieved the 5th dan and teaches at the club along with her son and daughter. Her son and daughter has represented Canada at the World Kendo Champions in the UK, Brazil, Italy and Japan where she also went to cheer them on. After leaving her teaching job in 2006, she realized how important it is to eat healthy and what it takes to have a healthy living. She moved on to working at a organic produce store where she learned more about local farmers, and the environment. She also learned about macrobiotic cooking. Currently she is cooking Japanese dishes by using mostly local products and also enjoys making crafts with a Japanese influence.
